Background

Our Yeshiva

Our Yeshiva High School program is 10 months long. It consists of both Limudei Kodesh and General Studies. Under the current accreditation process we meet all standard requirements by the state of California. Students will receive support and tutoring for optimal success.
In addition we are happy to offer our students the opportunity to earn their GED for those parents and students who are interested in completing their general studies requirements and graduating early.

Our general studies will include an interactive application: we take math and science and apply it to measuring, building and running the farm. Students will learn geometry measuring angles for various plant and animal structures. We will conduct experiments to learn how everything reacts and interacts in nature; biology, chemistry, and even physics will all be explored through our farm.

Background

Why a farm?

For thousands of years our people have been working the land-our daily life has always been intertwined with nature. Our very cycle of learning begins with the tractate of Zeraim (seeds)-and why? Because in the beauty of the outdoors and the intricacy of every creation we see G-d and build our faith and trust.

From blessing the fruit trees to milking cows, our relationship with G-d and with each other has always revolved around nature and the outdoors. It’s only in modern times that we have restricted our learning and experience to the confines of a building.

While reading Torah and learning complex Jewish law in a classroom, we have little to no connection and application to these mitzvos because we are not a part of the process.

At Kibby Farms we want to change that by offering young students the opportunity to step back into our natural setting and learn Torah the way we have since the very beginning: outside and hands-on. What once seemed irrelevant now takes on a whole new meaning — Torah becomes alive!

Limudei HaKodesh

Our Yeshiva learning style is incredibly unique in many ways:

  • Small and Intimate Classrooms with only 5-10 students per class
  • Tactile or hands-on courses that bring Torah to life
  • Jewish Law on the Farm
  • Individual research, oral presentations, and experiments

We know that every student learns in a different and unique way and that hands-on learning or kinesthetic learning can make the difference between bored or engaged.

To ensure each student is engaged we have come up with some very exciting classes and activities. We also will be introducing various profound and ancient texts that reveal a deeper dimension to Torah learning and provide each student with a practical guide to seeing and dealing with life in a completely different way. Our goal is to have Torah learning be a thought provoking, exciting endeavor that changes and develops a person to reach their true potential.
